Default serving question

I recently started making my own strings & cables. One problem that I have is serving separation where the string has to bend a lot when going over the cam.

Does very tight serving help this? Or will I get better results with a very small serving thread?

What kind of string material do you use&what serving?Also do you serve in the direction of the lay or twist of your string?
