Does anyone know who makes the most consistent spine carbon arrow? And how constant are they? Well where at it who makes the worst? I went to a 3-D shoot this last week end and this topic came up. I have been looking in manufacture brochures and on the web for specs and comparisons, but cant find information on this. Some one out there must have checked carbon arrows for this some where. So if any one knows of any info lets hear it. Remember charts and graphs are not only cool, but get you bonus points.

All makers have arrows of varying straightness. The best I've seen are the Carbon Express 3D selects. Straightness of .001, all carbon arrow. Shoot, that's .001 straighter than my ACC's......and I thought they were the best.
I believe Gold Tip makes one that is .001 as well...Pro Hunters.
The worst I've seen is .006, and to be honest, I can't remember what arrow that was....Easton Excell is .005, or maybe that was the .006.....can't remember.

All arrow maker's at some point"loose the recipe"at some point.
Now that's an interesting thought.
When talking about arrow straightness, it would be best to get the 'yield' and 'worst case' factors from the manufacturers. In other words, how many out of a dozen will meet the spec and what is the worst case in straightness. I've seen 'yields' of less than 10% meeting the straightness spec and I've seen .001 actually measure .050.
As far as spine, that's a whole other subject that I'd rather not discuss. If you want the best spine, you'll have to buy a spine tester and measure your own.
I've seen manufacturers go fromgood one year to the worst shortly thereafter.

My experience is VERY limited, but I did build a spine tester 2 years ago. I have not tested enought carbons to state anything very profound, except that I had been shooting ACC 3-60s. After testing the ACCs and a few all-carbons, I decided that I should have just bought more ACCs and left well enough alone. The had fantastic spine consistency, both around the shaft and from arrow to arrow. The all carbon that was closest to the ACCs was the Carbon Tech Cheetah. They had more arrow to arrow and around the shaft variation, but it wasn't too bad, and they seem to shoot just as well as the ACCs for me, but I am only an average shot. Some other all carbons were pretty bad, but in all fairness, I only had a very small sampling of them.

Len, Not to get off the subject but could you tell us what type of setup you use for testing straightness of shafts? Also what span distance do you check across? I just recently built myself a spine tester but need to do a little more testing and verifying of the accuracy of it. Also I don't have access to a large variety of arrows to test. I do have a simple and easy test I use to determine around the shaft spine consistancy and alignment and that is what I use to determine cock fletch placement when fletching arrows.
