I figure one of you technical gurus has this info close by. I was wondering what type of velocity is needed to have a single sight pin put an arrow in the vitals of a deer for distances from 0 to 30 yards. Im sure this depends on arrow characteristics such as mass but Im guessing you have calculations for several arrow masses. Is this possible with modern hunting setups?
It not only has to do with the arrow, but the bow its a package!!!! If your setup is fairly fast (say 275fps or more) you can set one pin say at 25 yds and be in a 7" kill no problem. At 15-20 yds you would be slightly high and at 30yds a bit low. All you would have to do is to adjust your point of aim a bit up or down to hit center of aim.
at 300 fps with a 350gn arrow, sighted for 25 yards, you will hit 1.16" low at 5 yards
.68" low at 10
1.51" high at 15
1.28 high at 20
and 2.43" low at 30
