Default Can someone help me???

Im lookin in to gettin a new release and like the ones you hold and release with your thumb.
But i was lookin on ebay and there are a bunch of BACK TENSION releases on there and they all have this string attached to them,

Whats up with these? i dont use a loop on my string so can i use one of these or no. and what is the string for.

Thanks guys

I think with those you just put your thumb in the loop so you dont drop it....

You will have to use a string loop on your bow if you are planning on shooting one of those releases.

Also a back tension release will give you a suprise shot- meaning you will not know when it is going to go off- you just set it for your draw weight and pull it back and keep pulling and it will go off once you pull back hard enough

I use a Michigan made release called the Winn Free Flight. Kinda like a glove more than a wrist release. Really like it, comfortable.

Sounds like you're describing something like this.

It's a rope release. The ropeloops around the string and hooks back to the release. When the release trips, it releases the rope and lets the string go. Post an item number and I'll take a look and tell you for sure.

You can definitely use a rope release if you hook up directly to the string. I don't know that I'd recommendone for hunting, but they are quite popular for target shooting.

This one if triggered with the middle finger and I've found it easy to learn quickly. Copper John Eagle 3 finger.

The Carter is similar to the release I shoot. I would recommend using this style of release with a string loop for hunting. The True Ball can be used directly on the string just like any jaw type release, but I recommend using a loop for them too. Of the two, the Carter is definitley the way to go. As a gunsmith and competetive archer I can tell you that you won't find a better sear system in any firearm or release that is better than a Carter. The strings that you're referring to are wrapped around the bowstring in place of a loop on the bowstring. The reason they aren't typically used in hunting is that they can be a bit tricky to get hooked up. My advise is get a string loop installed and get the Carter!
