Default Front of center anyone?

I'm already looking at some new arrows for next year, as I expect to deplete the few I have left this year.
Anyway, do any of you really pay close attention to getting the front of center within recommended range?
They say for hunting, depending on who you ask, that a good (foc) is 8-12%. Some say 10-15%.
The arrow setup I'm contemplating puts me at about 7.5% foc.
Not a big difference, but in archery everything matters.

FOC is extremely important and I would try to stay within the recommended percentage range.

At the short ranges we bowhunters shoot it not that critical . If you want to obsess over it 10-14 might be a good % to shoot for

With carbons it will be hard to get a higher FOC without a lot of weight up front .

The higher the FOC percentage the easier it is for the fletchings to do their job.

My FOC percentage is almost 14% and my arrow weighs 497 grains.

It's not all that difficult getting a FOC up to about 12% if you aren't obsessed with shooting a 100 grain or lighter head just to pick up 5 fps. Honestly a 125 -130grain head will ballance the arrow much better than a 100 grain head unless you are shooting extremely light weight arrows like a youth would shoot.

Everything I've read lately suggests staying up above 10% for best performance...

From what I have seen, FOC is important when shooting longer distances (FITA and field archery), in heavy wind which could easily be a hunting situation, and when shooting fixed blade heads. I don't know what you plan to use your arrows for however for hunting I would recommend 12%+. If they are target specific arrows that are shot in low wind and less than 50 yards with no broadheads, then I don't really see much importance. For 3D season I was shooting 437 grain GT 30X prosthat had 100 grain glue ins with a super low front of center and they shot awesome out to 50 yards.

I couldn't tell you what my FOC is if my wife's life depended on it.I do know that I have 225gr up front on the carbons-125gr BH & 100gr brass insert-so I'm assuming it's alright.

Sounds like a great hunting arrow, with a very high FOC. I agree that the actual number is not important. Just make sure it's high. Dr. Ashby's latest studies with extreme FOCs (25-35%) show some great advantages. At typical hunting ranges, super high FOC's don't affect trajectory enough to worry about. What it does for accuracy and penetration appears to make it worth having. I know that I'm extremely happy with the arrows I have that are over 15%.
