Default Rocket Hammerheads

I just bought some of these and they are shooting great. However, this will be my first try with mechs(I always used Muzzy's) and was wondering if anyone had used the Rockets before and could share there experiences.

Boinicrooster,....Bionicrooster?? Good handle, not sure I want to know the meaning but........

About the 'Hammerheads'.......These fall into the "Specialty" category as far as mechs go. They should be used by individuals with set-ups that are a bit above the norm as far as KE goes.
They are a large diameter , lever style head , and by nature this head demands a higher level of punch to get consistent perfomance on game.
If you could give me specifics about your set-up.....arrow weight, speed etc. I can take it from there, and give you an idea of how they will perform for you and what to expect.

Rooster, I agree with Matt ( again) on this one. I did however see in another thread that your KE is close to 70 ft/lbs. This should be enough to use the Hammerheads on deer size game. this of course it is provided your bow is well tuned and you take only good shots. I tested these heads a while back and was suprised at how well they did considering the very large cutting diameter.

Well, lets make this an "all moderator" response thread so far......

...speaking of which, did anybody notice Matt's new level of responsibility?

I agree with the other two. I first started using Hammerheads this season...both the 3 blade and 4 blade model. They are trully devastating when it comes to the damage they do on deer. But, as stated, you really need a setup pushing out alot of KE in order to get them to work properly. If you are shooting 70 ft. lbs, as 5 shot stated, and your setup is properly tuned then I think the Hammerheads will fit you nicely...

Bionicrooster....

I have used the 3 blade Hammerheads for the past two seasons and have taken 5 deer with them, none has required an extensive tracking job...and all but one was a complete pass-through.

I have been very impressed with them and wish you luck!

awsome head I use them with 68 lbs of KE - no problems. If you have less than 60 I would look at another model.

I agree with the above statements. The Hammerhead 4-blade is the first mechanical head I tried. The 4-blade i believed weighed 108grs..
Shot two deer with them that year and they are pretty good. When Rocket come out with the Sidewinder I went to it because I like the chisel tip on them.

Thanks guys, I feel like they will be a good head for me and will give them a try. I'll let you know how I make out. As for my setup, I am shooting an XI Impulse at 83 pounds, 28 inch 2413's, and I have killed 6-8 deer since using this setup and had a complete pass through every time, with my arrow burying into the ground most times. I also limit my shots to whithin 25 yards, and generally much closer than that. I don't believe penetration wil be a problem, just glad to hear they function properly from your experience.
