Default Rippled Fletchings

Hey guys,

Not sure whats up... I was shooting Easton Axis arrows with the "Stock" fletching. After awhile, they got to be all rippled and began to tear.

I had them refletched with NAP QuickSpins. I took like 2 shots and they are starting to ripple.. Something can't be right.

It appears as if I am pulling them through the target (which I am not)

I have tried cock feather up, down, east, west, to no avail.

Here are the specs...

I am shooting a '05 Hoyt ViperTec with a NAP Quicktune drop away. The rest doesn't come up untill near the very end of my draw.

Easton Axis 400's about 31" in length (not sure exactly off the top of my head) with about 62lbs of draw weight.

I am using a string loop and release...

Any thoughts or suggestions?

-Jared

Not a clue.... At first I thought you were going to say your rest is a Whisker Biscuit, But you said drop away... I am baffeled. Hope someone else can help you.

If you have any newly fletched arrows left take one and shoot it a few times making sure to position the cock vane in the same position each time. If only 1 of the 3 vanes starts to show rippling then determine what the arrow could be hitting. There could be a timing issue with the drop away.

I used to shoot a Hoyt Razortec with a Nap Quiktune 2000 rest. I had the same problem. I discovered that the vane was hitting the cable that controls the dropaway rest. You have to bend that cable out of the way so your fletching will clear it. Once I did this my problem was solved.

One more thing - with this rest I had best results shooting cock vane down. The quick tune 2000 is notorious for dropping too slow. Cock vane up hits the prongs of the rest.

Well guys...

I think GZG got it, along with another problem...

My center shot was WAY off... Way to the right, causing some fletching contact issues...

I am also going to shoot cock feather down, and try messing with the cable...

GZG, Does this make my drop away "useless" if its dropping too slow, isn't it like a shoot through rest then?

Anyway to speed it up?

Thanks alot guys!
