Default Vanes 2,3,4 or 5" ?

What does the leangth of your vane have to do with your arrow and how it flies ? It was my understanding that you need a long vane to stabilize a broad-head .But I see alot of people shooting a 2" blazer on a fixed head . Could you set me straight ? Thanks . Are there any advantages to going either with a long vane or a short one ?

Default RE: Vanes 2,3,4 or 5" ?

it is true that the longer vanes will stabilize an arrow with a broadhead quicker, but with many of today ridged vanes such as the blazer vanes u can get away with a shorter vane. also another reason u see shorter vanes with bh is because many of todays bh are much more aerodynamic and will not wind plane as much and the large single piece bh of yesteryear. also many ppl are switching over to the mini heads that have a 7/8 to 1inch cutting diameter which has less area to catch wind and plane. a longer vane will stabilize a bh faster than a short one, except maybe the quikspins from NAP they are suppose to spin the arrow faster and will stabilize the arrow faster out of the bow. just my .10
