Default Looking for a new release

I currently have an Ultra-Nok XL nock on my bow and use a Pro Release Trophy hunter release which I've used for 5 years now, would like to get something better. I have been considering the TruFire Hurricane Extreme web release which Bass Pro has for $35...use I've heard the TruFire Judge release is good and that is going for around $60 which is a little high being just out of college and starting to pay loans. Would the Trufire Hurricane work well on the type of nock I'm using? Im sure there are better releases and I might be better off going to a string loop, but I don't want to switch to a string loop until next year because my current nock is almost new. Any opinions or suggestions on these releases or other releases wold be appreciated! Thanks!!

I"ve shot both the Judge and the Hurricane releases, I felt the Judge was worth the extra cash.

i have a truefire Hurricane with the powerstrap. i love it. its comfortable....easy to adjust. and does its job. the next one i buy though will have a head that rotates 360degrees. i have a feeling ill dish out major cash. but to me that makes sense to have a head that rotates. i think it will help with sting tourqe. the hurricane moves a TINY bit. and i shoot great with it..but you gota keep it in mind to keep your hand in the same position. i guess its called good form lol. but i like the hurricane. i wont be switching any time soon. i think a release is one of the more important pieces of gear a archer should have. i didnt get to try anything else but im satisfied with my hurricane.....not sure what they sell for...i ordered way to much at one time to have any idea lol

Hmm...that is something I didn't consider - a swiveling head. My current release, the Pro Release, has a head the swivels, so I would probably be better off spendng the extra money on a release like the Judge, to have a head the swivels? By the way, is there any difference in performance with the connection of the head to wrist strap , aka web strap vs. the Judge? Thanks!

some people perfer a buckle. but i have yet had trouble with my powerstrap...which is velcro. i think a leather buckle would be less comfortable. guys say velcro makes noise.....sure it does..put it on at the truck and leave it on and your good to go. the hurricane does move around a good bit so i can move it and still use my hand etc. the hurricanes head does move a LITTTTTLE bit. but i think it was the judge i seen that the jaws rotate on bearings. i think that would be a good idea but not neccessary

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the buckle strap, but the power strap is cheaper.....Now i'm considering spending the money on the Judge because in the long run, it might be worth it to spend the $ now instead of wishing I had later.... Any other opinions/suggestions?

Different brand, different price range. I have a Scott Little Goose that is going on to its 8th year of shooting with zero problems. The trigger pulland position is adjustable, and it's a single caliper design. The single caliper design causes less wear on your string, and allows a cleaner release (I shoot directly off the string). It has the full swivel head that you're looking for as well. BUT, it's in the $60-70 range now depending on which version you get. Back when I got it I paid less than $50 for it I believe, though they've made a few minor changes since then. It's a proven design that many of the tournament shooters use (if they aren't using a backtension style release). Like I said though, it's a higher price range than what you've been looking at, but it's a quality design that will last several years.

Another vote for The Judge...I have the buckle strap and love it. Best of luck.

So I'm still trying to decide between a Judge or Hurricane Web release? Anyone else with thoughts/opinions? I'm going to try to check out a couple stores but most places seem to be seeling out of everything so I'm looking at having to order from Basspro or Cabela's. A $60 price tag on a Judge is a little over what I want to pay, compared to $35 for a Hurricane web, but I do want something that will work well for me and on my aluminum Ultra-Nok XL loop and for the years to go. I'll switch eventually to a string loop/D-loop. Anyone tell me anything else?
