Default sonic vs. trick

Hey guys. I'm sure this have been asked before, but the search function and I don't see eye to eye...... If it's been discussed just link me

What's the pluses and minus of these two heads. I think i've narrowed it down to them. I'm going to be launching 100 grainers out of the setup below.

FYI, American Broadhead Company is offering a free 100 grain head on their site. don't know how long it'll take to get it but they are putting their money where their mouth is. Hard to knock a company that is this confident in their stuff!

Well here we go, I just shot the Sonics yesterday, a buddy gave me his from lastyear because he just bought the new sonics pro 100's. I tell ya what, when they say they shoot like field points, they shoot like field points, I have never in my life seen a broad head that flies as true and as flat as these, I even gained 10-15 fps.

Either head should have good flight based on their short head design. The Sonic might have a little better penetration due to being a cut-on-contact head with 3 blades (vs the Slick Trick's 4 blade design). After looking at several reviews and pictures of tests, it appears that the Slick Trick has a little better blade retention design and will be more durable. Take a look at the pictures from the tests on this site: http://btreviews.proboards57.com/ I do believe that either head will be more than adequate if you do your job with shot placement, but for whatever it's worth I'll be sticking with the Slick Trick's that I've been using.

Wis bow huntr,

Can you explain to me how you gained 10-15fps in a broadhead switch?
Did you go from a 125gr head to the 85gr Sonic?

Agreed, I'd really like to know that answer as well?

no all my heads are 100 grain, I honestly cant explain it, I shot my muzzy mx4100g, my muzzy phantoms 100gr. and the sonics 100gr. The two muzzys came up shorter on speed than the sonic. i retested yesterday and i read the chrono wrong lol i only gained 3-4 fps. My bad .

Wis,
Better weigh each of those heads, Muzzy vs. the Sonic. If they are truly 100grs each youshould not see any speed difference. 100grs is 100grs at chrono distance....maybe downrange if one is imparting more drag but not at a couple feet.
To see a 3-4fps difference just by changing the heads out I would guess that you'd need to see about 10-12gr variance in head weight. Sounds to me like one of the 2 isn't what you think it is. (Either the Muzzy is heavier than 100grs or the Sonic is lighter or a combo of both)

It certainly does sound your set-up likes them though and good luck with them this season.
