I'm thinking about putting together a new rig......I really want to keep the weight down(assessories and all). So I need to start with the bow. What do you think is the best performing bow under 4 lbs. Many of the new bows are pretty heavy. example Hoyt Trycon...nice bow but the thing is almost 5 lbs!

You may be able to start with a bow under < 4 lbs, but you won't be able to finish with a bow under that weight.
You would be talking about a difference of maybe 1 - 1.5 lbs across the board for compounds, but once you add quiver, sight, rest, stabilizer, and any other trinkets you will be up around 6-8 lbs.
Bout the only way you can get a smooth light bow is go traditional - barring that go with a bow that fits you and that you feel most comfortable shooting - the weight will not play as big a factor as feel!
I think that is an oxymoron. The fastest won't be the smoothest. - Under 4 lbs, greatly limits your options. I'd pick one or the other. Get the smoothest (you'll have to test them, everyone has a different opinion). Or get the fastest (regardless of how poorly you may shoot it).
The ELITE E-500!71.4#'s,30"draw,350gr arrow=332fps with the medium speed mods and they come factory with Barnsdale limbs and Winners' Choice strings.Oh,yeah it's got the new e-leaf camo also(sweet).I paid $569.00 for mine.

Not the smoothest bow at 70 with the speed mods, but...........
Set that sucker up at 65, shoot the smooth mods and it is like butter and STILL faster than any trycon or XT...
