Bitzenbergers are tough. First off, don't worry so much about their little hash marks. I was told by a guy at bitzen that really don't mean much. I also suggest giving them a call. They gave me some great advise. I use that jig for my traditional cedars and was trying to get a hard left helical. Too hard with that thing, and they come out horribly.

What I suggest is experimenting. Just use your right or left helical clamp, and put it on with the holder/magnet straight, that will give you what I call an "offset" of maybe 3 degrees. The back needs to be centered with the arrow. Don't move this again. To be honest with ya, not sure if I like mine. But it handles big 5.5" feathers nicely

First of all, why are you worried about the exact amount of offset you are getting? If you are building hunting arrows, put on as much as you can. I set my Bitz up so that I get as much offset with the helical clamp as I can and still have the vane contact the arrow shaft. If you are building target arrows, then I can understand.

Use a piece of paper with marks on it and wrap it around your shaft to tell you how much offset it is set at. Take a piece of paper and draw two lines at 90 degrees to one another. Mark off how long your vanes are on the vertical line. Then using a protractor, make hash marks for different angles. Put that around your shaft and it will tell you the offset.

This is how I fletch with mine as well, whether it be offset or helical. Tests have proven the more spin you can create with your shaft, the more accurate it is -- at least at hunting distances.
