Default drop-away rest timing (shakey hunter)

I have a Trophey Taker Shakey Hunter on my '06 Tribute. I went out to measure my arrows because I'm about to order a dozen carbon techs. I was looking the bow over and had a thought.

When i draw the bow the rest doesn't strat coming up until after the field point has past the front of the riser. If i had a fixed blade, or most mechanicals for that matter, it would hit the riser and unknock the arrow. I inteneded on using Slick Tricks, but with the current setup that would be impossible. I would have to increase my arrow length to right at 30 inches to not make riser contact. I do not want to do this. Can the rest be time to start moving into position earlier???? say 2.5 inches sooner? Or will i just need to scap the drop away and get a traditional rest. I know i'm not the only person to ever discover this but i couldn't see a post with a similar problem

help is appriciated!!

you can have it come up a bit sooner, but an additional 2.5" may be too much.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0004480414548a&type=product&cm Cat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=silent+cote&N=4887& amp;Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&a mp;Ntt=silent+cote&noImage=0 You can definately have set to come up earlier, but be careful you don't have it stay up to long or you will experience fletching contact. i brushed Silent Coteon mine before installation and i was able to see any fletching contact by dabing a little lipstick on the cock vane which i shoot down. you can probably see the white stuff on my fork in this pic. hope this helps. edited to add the link for Silent Cote

thanks guys for the info! I'll take it to the shop when i get the time to see what they can do with it. May end up swapping for a fixed rest.

I recently designed a tool that aids/performs 10 different functions for bow repair/tuning. One of the functions is setting up drop-away rests properly. The rise and fall time can be adjusted minutely.

You might want to inform your Pro Shop thatthis tool will soon be available from Apple Archery. It is designed to attach to their bow presses.

Dang, Len.
I'm disappointed in you.
Why didn't you design it to attach to my Sure-Loc press ?

gibblet:

The tool could be used with other presses with a possible slight modification of the mounting configuration.

Sag:

I designed it to use with the press that is the most popular with Pro Shops. My statement above also applies to the Sure-Loc.

I have a Sure-Loc press, as well as 8 other pressesby different manufactures, but the Sure-Loc is the only one that I will not allow my technicians to use. It is a great 'individual' press, but it falls somewhat short as a tool for Pro Shops, IMPO.

Out of curiousity, what is your draw length? I havea 28" draw and use 28" arrows with slick tricks and the shakey hunter on my bowtech liberty. They come up in plenty of time to not hit the riser shelf. When I bought my rest, I know that it came with both an elastic cord and a non-elastic...mine is set up with the non-elastic, but if you have problems you might be able to try the elastic to have it come up sooner and not affect your cables as much.
