I use BCY ML-6. Great stuff. Wax the whole thing baby! All of it. Both the cables as well. The ML-6 actually soaks into your center serving and gets the string underneath. How often to wax depends on how much you shoot. You want to keep your strings and cables moist, this keeps them from "dry rotting" and failing prematurely. Personally, I wax mine once a week whether it needs it or not.

good advice, and be gentle when rubbing it on.like mobo said the silicon will seep into the string. no amount of anything is going to keep wax down in the middle of that string.

I use a hair dryer to melt it in.

A what?!?

I still have a tube on Bohning string wax - which is okay, but not the best... I have to rub it on the string vigorously, and while rubbing it in, the heat/frictiongenerated starts soaking it in. But, like gibblet mentioned, you have to be a little gentle and not go rub toohard and cause the string fibers to melt or get damaged.

Works good! Put the wax on with my fingers real good and then blow warm air and watch it melt in. Goes in all the cracks.

Try it and see.

Use a piece of leather to rub the wax into your string. Heat from a hairdryer might be OK but it would scare me.[8D]
