First off, thanks to all for helping me continue to become a better archer.
I have a question about arrow wraps. I was trying to find out why they are so popular, it seems to me you still have to glue your fletching onto the wraps the same way you would to a wrapped arrow. So whats the great advantage of wraps? I saw some wraps that come pre-fletched and that seemed effective. Anyway, im considering using wraps, any brand suggestions or tips?
BTW, any of you that saw my post about having underspined arrows that the proshop assured me were strong enough, and my dilema about switching tips or lowering draw weight. I think i solved my problem. The new rest im ordering (QAD Ultrarest) should let me shoot shorter arrows... so hopefully i can trim an inch or two off my arrows and then i'll be properly spined! I dont know why it took me so long to figure that one out. Anyway, i can sleep easy knowing i dont have to buy new arrows and simply trash my others....

Arrow wraps can make your arrow more visible at the shot, so you may be able to see it in flight a little better, and they make it so we can all "customize" our arrows so that your's don't look like everyone elses, handy especially at 3D shoots. And some beleive that fletch glue seems to stick better to them, and I am one of those believers.

Bowmanhunter is where I get mine, and I love them. He has many stock patterns and will custom make darn near anything.
Anyway, they do have some practical uses. They can make watching the arrow a little easier, especially if you are filming your hunts, fletching does seem to stick better to them than the carbon, and if they are white, the blood shows up better. If your FOC is a tad high, a wrap could lower it to more respectable levels.
Ok, having said all that, there is really only one reason to wrap an arrow. Very simply........THEY LOOK KICK BUTT!!!!!!!! Talk about a custom arrow! You can have an arrow that nobody else shoots. That's really the only reason I wrap mine. Looks. Plain and simple. Oh, and some of mine have "mobowhuntr" printed on them. Cool, huh?

I bought some last year from Lancaster archery, I think they were bohning, this year I have tried to get custom ones made from a few different places, only got one email response so far... So if you really want to try them i would go with one of the bigger archery shops like lancaster or even cabelas. They have a pretty good selection. As to why to use them, as stated before they make your arrow more visible, and they add a nice custom look. Also depending on your setup they can help or hurt your FOC. And an added benefit, if you want to refletch your arrows, you can just soak them in hot water and the wrap peels off with the fletchings giving you a nice smooth, clean surface to work with.

Its funny, Lancaster sold me the underspined arrows.. im going to take them back and have them cut shorter i'll probably pick up some wraps and blazers while im there.

I wouldn't trash them anyways and shoot around with different ones all the time, just don't hunt with them. Great varmit or small game shafts! And I don't worry much if I loose one.
Been thinking about wraping but they go against my grain. I have an aversion to using more than I need and refletch a lot. Think it might be a pain. I even strip the GT label off mine. They doo look great though.
My vanes just stick better to my carbons.I make my own wraps using bumper sticker computer paper.Very cheap, but blood does stain them some. But thats still a good thing !
Just another suggestion...I prefer reflective wraps. When you hit them with a flashlight, they light up like you wouldn't believe which can be very helpful forseveral reasons.
