Default going from 100 grain to 125 grain

Well I finally have my bow dialed in and bringing meat home. But soon Ill need some new broadheads. I think Muzzy 3 blade 100's have been the best BH's I ever had. There just kind of pricey[&:]But was wondering first if I bumped the grain up to 125 how much would this affect my bow . Just a matter of moving pins or would it get more technical ? Would it be worth it, to increase the wound size?
We hunt alot of goats and pigs in pretty rocky terrain so with pass through's or missed shots our heads take a beating , so cheaper broadheads dont llast to long.
I shoot a 2000 Martin Jag around 68 pounds, 2216 Easton aluminums at 27 3/4 inches, with fingers.
I guess what Im hoping to find out is "Is it worth it to go from 100 grain to 125 grain??" or what about the muzzy 4 blade 100 grain??
Thanks to everyone on this forum , My bowhunting has reached anotheer level.I really appreciate all the advice and will try to pass it on

The wound size shouldn't increase becasue I believe the cutting diameter is the same between the 125 and the 100 Muzzy. You'll get a bit more FOC and gain some momentum on the arrow but if you're not having problems with your grouping or problems with arrow penetration then I see no need to change. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

At 68#'s going to a 125grain won't change anything reallynoticable, except your arrow FOC will increase. You obviously will have to re-sight in your pins (lower thema hair to compensate for the increased arrow drop) and you will probably loose about 5 fps in speed. But your K/E will increase and in turn will make your arrow pack a serious punch.

Be sure to double check the arrow charts and setup information to ensure you can use a 125grain tip and not cause your arrow to be too weak in spine.

I've always shot the 125 grain BH's and I've been shotting Muzzy 125's for about 5 or more years now with excellent results. I like the increased FOC and the slight increased in KE over what I'd get with 100's.

Here is what i think: KE= .5 *Mass*velocity^2, so if you increase the mass you loose velocity, which might lower the KE cause its squared. The difference probably isnt noticible, and you usually get a beefier/tougher head. If your bow is shooting great w/ 100's dont worry bout changing it will shoot great w/ 125's just might take some tweaking and you got all summer to do that. If i were you i'd go w/ the 125's if your arrow can handle it. one thing to think about: "If it aint broke, fix it before it is"

Ive got a similar question. I found out in the middle of last season that my arrows were underspined for 125 grn. The guy at the pro shop assured me they would be stiff enough to handle the weight, it wasnt until i started having arrows split at the ends that i looked at the size chart and found out i was slightly underspined.

so now i have a dilema. I need to buy new broad heads for this season and im thinking of just dropping back to 100 grns. But i plan on bear hunting, should i just get new arrows and stick w/ the 125 grns? I guess i could lighten the poundage on my bow as well, but i think having a lesser lb draw would lower the K/E more than dropping the head weight. Right now i shoot 72lbs and dont know what to do...

Thanks for the info guys,
Ill just stick with the 100's for now
Hope someone picks up on your ??? HuntingEd , its a good one. If no one hops on it post a new thread , would be nice to hear some replys. We dont have bears hear but my 2 cents would be lower your poundage, although I dont think you mentioned what it was. Thats probally the cheapest way to go. Its all about shot placement anyways
GOOD LUCK

I think im gonna drop em back to 100 grns, I need to buy new heads anyway.... And your right, its all bout shot placement also the two heads i carry have the same cut dia regardless of weight.

I thought bout lowering the weight, i looked up the sizing charts again and i would have to drop it 10 lbs....so I'll take more poundage over head weight anyday...
