05 Alliegence v 06

I can get a barebones 06 model for $700 or an 05 fully set up for around 400. How much better (faster, smoother, etc) is the 06 than the 05 model and is it worth the extra money.

I guess it depends on wether or not you think the "loaded" one has accessories that you find desirable. I know I bought a pkg bow and ended up replacing everything on it anyway so that was not a real saving in the end.
As for 06 vs. 05 you have to ask yourself if the versatility of having adjustable draw length by merely switching modules has value. If you are the type of guy who likes to switch bows every 2-3 years then this would make it far more marketable at a higher resale. Another advantage is the smooth and speed modules that let you change your draw force curve and roughly change speed by 7-10fps. Also the 06 is faster. Is the 05 new with warranty? If it has no warranty I would opt for the 06. I find companies treat the original owners quite well but second hand owners don't really rate quite as high for the bow companies. You may never need warranty work but if ever you do any savings would be gone. In the end, I would buy the 06.

The 05 is brandnew from the shop. Also, with the smooth mods in, how much smoother/easier is the o6 to draw than the 05. thanks for your input

i just got done making the same desicion and i went with the 05. I think it is just as fast, smooth and all that jazz as the 06 and i havea 29 inch draw length and there is no need for me to be able to swich length. I am shooting a 411grain arrow and 290fps and am haveing truoble finding a broadhead that flies really good out of it, so as far as the speed goes how care unless you do alot of target shooting, a hunting bow in my opinion can be to fast. And the price is right even if you get rid of every thing on the bow you still get more for you money than with the 06. Just my 2 Cent for what it's worth.

Seeing as the 05 is new with warranty, thats a great deal as long as it fits you properly.

I own a 05 70lb and an 06 60lb (smooth module). I enjoy both alot and shoot them equally well. I personally would have bought the 05 and used the saved $ to set it up just right. Although the the extreme centershot on the 05 has been a modest hassle for some to get used to, its not a big deal once everything is set up. I don't think the claimed extra few fps ought to be a big consideration. I think you done good!

Have shot both and can honestly say I like the feel of the 05 better. The price on the 05 makes it too good to pass up. You never know what they are going to come out with for next year and you could see the price of 06 drop then.

For what its worth I love my 05 and even after shooting the 06 models I decided to keep my bow, save some money, and add a few new accesssories to it. I guess it was more a case of I really, really like my 05 and it shoots great so I didn't feel the overwhelming need to upgrade. In fact, I will most likely never get rid of this bow.

If at all possible I would shoot both and then decide if spending the extra cash is really worth it to you.
