Default Fletching Options 4X90?

Just got my Bitz fletching tool in last night and got it set up. It is working great. After I completed a few arrows, I was thinking about the fletching option of 4 at 90 degree vs. the standard 3 at 120 degrees. Seems to me if you purchased a even lower profile vane, the positives of this 4X90 would out way the negatives. Even though I just ordered the 3 inch super spine vanes, I'm thinking of going with the 2.3 inch super spine vanes and trying out the 4X90 since I use mechanicals. How come the 4X90 isn't more popular? If it still has the same surface area overall, then you should get the same controllability right?Plus you gain better clearance and a more rigid vane that will respond the same in all temperatures. What am I missing?

See link below for what I'm talking about.

Depending on the arrow rest you use and the shaft diameter, this maynot be true.

Ok, let me re-phrase the question to say"¦

Other than the extra weight, why wouldn"™t you use 4 smaller (lower profile)vanes with a drop away rest?
