Default Arrow size

Hey all,

I'm looking for opinions on arrow shaft selection... I currently shoot 2315's at 29" long, but that was with 60 or 65 lbs. I recently cranked it up to 70 or so, and I need some new arrows, so I'm wondering what if any gains I might see if I went to another arrow. I'm not really that keen on carbons, since I'm more of a hunter, and the occasional tournament and leagues I used to participate in went just fine with aluminum shafts. I see in the Easton charts, 2514's are the same spine stiffness as 2315's but much lighter. Is there a disadvantage to them? First thing you'll say is the diameter will make for less penetration right? Well that's true on 3D targets but you'll have to show me scientific proof of that for living tissue. Thanks for any replies!

2514's might be a bit less durable than 2315's due to the slightly thinner wall thickness. That's about the only negative I can cook up.

I agree with Arthur, they might be a bit easier to ding up or something, but 14's are not bad. I shoot 2213's and don't have any problems with durability.

Keep in mind you may have to retune your bow if you switch arrows because of the diameter and draw weight changes. The larger arrow will effectively change your nock height, not by much though. Don't expect to change your set up then slap some fixed blades on there and have it be perfect. You might get lucky, then again you might not.

Check the Easton website out. It gives you a breakdown based on cam type, broadhead grains, draw weight, and arrow length.

I did one with Single Cam, 100 Grain Broadhead, 70 lbs draw, and 28 inch arrow.

Default RE: Arrow size

Thanks, did that.

I just was curious if there were any opinions on what I mentioned for arrow sizes, as the size I mentioned has the appropriate spine stiffness like the heavier 2315's I current'y own.
