Default how long do your limb saver's last??

My Hoyt came with limb savers in Feb of 2001.They lasted about six months then one of them fell off, they seperated from the base.I ran out and bought another set for $25.Well the other day one of them fell apart so again I went and bought another set.If the first set wouldnt have come with the bow I would have $75 in limbsavers in less than two years.Anyone else having this problem?

I bought a Hoyt Striker 2 the year they came out (1999?) and put a pair on and they are still there. Mine at least are lasting.

The split limb model on my Hoyt Protec last maybe 500 shots. The solid limb models have lasted 3,000 shots on both of my Darton Cyclones and still look good.

Never trust a bow under 40 (inches).

JPS,

A friend of mine has a protec 2000 and 2001 which seem to eat the top limb saver on a regular base. I have a 2001 Ultratec and mine eats them as well but not at the rate his eats them.

Save your LSV and send them back to LSV and they will replace them for you at no charge or what we did when they had a booth at a shoot we traded them in for the newer ones the stealth models.

Good luck

Good Shooting

I personally have not had a problem. I've had them on some of my Hoyt XT2000 bows for 2 years.

That being said, I have heard some speculation that the LS on a split limb introduces extra stress since the limb is trying to flex in that area and is constricted because of the pressure. My local shop recently "miked" a couple of different pairs of XT2000 limb and their readings did indeed show where the the limbsaver had "squashed" the limb a bit.

In fact a local fellow who also makes a fairly well known brand of stabilizers has come up with a limbsaver type doo-hickey which alleviates the problem (it mounts between the limbs). He has not brought them to market yet though. My dealer friend has had them on his CyberTec and reports they seem just as effective as the limbsavers at reducing noise, vibration, and recoil.

Food for thought...
