When you shoot your deer, the white cresting makes it easier to see your arrow (if it didn't pass-through)as the deer runs away. I prefer paint over the wraps, but it's hard to find anyone who does nice crestings.

Also, if you lose an arrow, the white crest makes it easier to recover.

I've left the arrow in a few deer over the years, and that white crest really makes it easy to see where you hit, and makes it easier to follow the deer as he makes his escape from your setup.

So you can make really cool looking arrows.. Most people add them for visibility and customization. There are all kinds of wraps out there, and some of them are really neat. For me, they look cool and I can see the arrow in flight much better. The down side: If you need to replace a fletch, you most likely will have to remove the entire wrap and redo the arrow. Also, they do add some weight to the arrow, but not much. Mine added only 10 gr. I can live with that.
They also allow better adhesion on carbon arrows. The fletching will stick much, much better with less glue.

Another benifit to wraps rather then dipping is you get a more consistant weight . With the paint the grains can change considerably. And this is a game of grains

I won't hunt again w/o wraps. I have green/white mix...absolutely love them.
