Default Bow press a necessity?

to install simms leeches? Assuming it's not, and you don't have a string separator tool, what common household item can be used in a pinch?

I just found some leeches I bought on clearance last year. Thought I'd give them a try.

I've used a pen or pencil on occasion. Just draw your bow back far enough to rotate the cam , put the pen or pencil through one of the holes in the cam to prevent it from turning all the way back and it will relax the string enough to install whatever you want. I'll have my wife or son draw the bow partially while I place the pen.

Bowfanatic is right on. I work part-time ina bow shop and when the presses are full we us that same technique. It is sort of an old school trick but it works great.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
