You should adjust the rod so that you get fletching clearance between the cables and your fletchings. There is a set screw on the riser that you can loosen up and rotate the rod.
You won't hardly find a cable slide that positions the cables on the right side of the rod anymore. Most all of them will place the cables on the left side of the rod and this is the prefered way to do it as it gets the rod away from your hand so you don't center punch your hand when letting down.
