Default QUESTION for RIPCORDERS

Picked up a ripcord rest at a bargain and have a question. Is it better to serve the cord in or use the cable clamp thing . Any pros and con's each way.

My dad has ripcord rest on his ben pearson and has had no trouble with it,,except that the pull string was rubbing on the bottom of the hole that the cord goes into but he got a peace of string lope string and replaced it with that and it still work fine..
