Default Mechanical heads, which are best?

I am not shooting mechanicals, but my father, who recently bought a crossbow is going to shoot them. We tried all kinds of things to get fixed heads to group, and with my limited amount of experience with crossbows, I have decided that it would be best to shoot mechanicals out of it for this year. It's whizzen arrows out of it at 310fps, and fixed heads are all over the place, regardless of weight.

My question is, which mechanicals are the best? I am thinking toward the Rocket heads, but wanted to ask first.

Thanks

Muzzyman88, I know your not new to the board. I know you know 5Shot has done extensive testings on all broadheads and posted them here. The "best" has been posted again and again. I know you know how to use the Search tool (when it's working) and I know you need only check back a page or two to find the answer to your question.

Rob brings up a good point but, I think we may have a new kid on the block...(not you MM88) and he (the broadhead) has made quite a showing of himself with some of 5shot's recent testing.

Wait for 5shot's new broadhead testing results...hopefully they should be up some time today...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thank you for the informative replies. I would do a search, but it takes an hour and a day to run, if it runs at all. I figured out which to buy anyway, but thanks again.

I like the following mechanical heads. Golden Key Demon, Lil Devil, and Reaper. Rocket Wolverine 3P, Steelheads, and Hammerheads. The Rocky Mountain Revolution is a nice one also.

I am curently using the GK Demon & Reapers. I am real happy with the reapers.

mm88: Seems to me 5shot had a post where he said you could click on his profile and find a link to his test results. I think it might be in the thread about his latest and most impressive mech test to date. Last I seen Frank had moved it from the gear forum to the Bow forum for a little more exposure. I have to agree on the search function, its junk. I would rather endure the heat for asking again than waste my time with it.

5shot, sorry about the testiness the other day, been feelin kinda crappy, right before season and am just a little on the cranky side. I 'll check out your profile.

My father stopped at the shop the other day and picked up a pack of Rocket sidewinders. They seem like pretty nice heads. We are going to shoot them in tonight. Let ya know how we make out.

Muzzy man with that much speed why not go with a 2 inch cut? Rocket makes one , hammerhead I think. Might as well open up a hole if your going mechnical.

I just shot my 6th deer last night with 85gr. Spitfires and not one of them have went over 80 yards. The one last night walked away like it didn't even know what hit it. Went 40-50 yards and laid down and died. Two years ago I had another one walk away 20 yards and fall over. I think they are the best head out there.
