Default Ouch:( Cracked Limbs

I have a question on Bowtech's support I am hoping someone here can answer.

I have a used 2004 Liberty that I bought recently that has (ouch) TWO cracked limbs upon arrival. Obviously, I am not the original owner. Would Bowtech still work with me to get these limbs replaced? I do own other Bowtech products and I hope to god they would take care of me. Please let me know.

I'd contact the original owner and see if he will work with you on the repair.

Did you recieve the bow in that condition?

Either way I'd contact the guy you bought it from and hopefully he'd be cool enough to handle it for you. That is if he is the original owner of course.

While your at at it have your bowtech dealer make a call and see how much a set of limbs cost outright. last time I saw it posted it was in the $60 dollar range. (but that's just going off a post)

Yes I bought the bow from an individual at a popular online archery discussion forum

I called up bowtech this evening and they told me $150 for a set of limbs. Ouch.

Ouch is right.
So did they arrive in that condition??

If not I would go back to that popular website and put up a WTB liberty limbs. There has to be someone out there who has swapped from 70#ers to 60#ers or vise versa.

If they came crackedI would go back to that popular site and start raising Cain until you have been refuned. Selling a bow with cracked limbs should be a hanging offense plain and simple.

I got in touch with the seller and he honestly didnt know. He is taking the lead with contacting bowtech about getting me some replacement limbs. I am still not sure if he is the original owner, so we will see how this thing plays out. Just glad that he is on board.

No offense needabow, and trust me I feel your pain, but why do you feel that Bowtechshould take responsibility for this bow's cracked limbs? There is a reason why Bowtech offers the Lifetime Warranty to original owners.......it makes a new bow a premium purchase, helping a dealer make a sale with the warranty as an added incentive on a new bow.
If Bowtech or any other company simply handed out parts for any used bow nobody would ever need to buy a new one......we could just recycle the used bows until the end of time with all the benefits afforded to the guy who made the initial purchase.
The seller is no longer the owner of the bow, and since warranty service is handled at the dealer level I wouldn't count on Bowtech covering the damage. I certainly wouldn't get upset if they didn't as they do have to draw the line somewhere even for a Bowtech supporter.
Every Ebay or internet sale that is covered could mean a new bow sale lost for a dealer. Used bow purchases should always be "At Risk".

All that said, Bowtech has exceptional people and service so who knows how it will be handled.......my point is, there is no justification in feeling negatively toward the company if they choose to reject the claim, and be prepared for thatpossibility.

Go to your local BowTech dealer and explain to them how you bought the bow.I'm sure they can get the limbs cheaper then you buying them yourself. You will have to pay the shop for the limbs and labor for installing them, but I'm sure any good dealer would help you out. They would in return be looking for your business in the furure.

I would ask for my money back from the person that I bought it from. But it's certainly isn't Bowtech's responsibilty.
