I don't think anyone will argue that the PSE Nova, in one form or another, is probably the biggest selling bow of all time. It has been around for quite some time...a decade maybe...and folks continue to buy it because it is of decent quality at a very attractive price.

Speed would depend on cam configuration. The slowest IBO rating was around 260 fps while the fastest version was in excess of 295 IIRC.

Is the Nova a good starter bow? I'm just starting out in bow hunting and I want to find the best bow for a cheap Price.

Buy it, they are a very good bow. They are an excellent hunting bow. Very smooth draw and extremely quiet and lightweight. I added a 6"stabilizer to mine but removed the sights and bracket and changed my arrow rest to a plunger type rest.. I'm personally a much better instinctive shooter. My son uses carbon arrows with 100 grain two bladed MagnusStinger broadheads and gets 280' per second with his bow setat 65 pound draw.

Any bow can be a good bow if properly fitted and tuned. On the other hand, any bow can be a terrible bow if it isn't. Therefore, it's a wise decision to have the best bow shop in your area, set it up for you. This can mean the difference between enjoying your bow or not. Keep in mind that arrow selection is even more important. Don't get caught up in speed. No animal has ever been killed by speed. Accuracy is everything. If the person setting up your bow is worried about tweaking it for speed, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

Yes, as the design has been around for some time. In the bowhunting industry that typically says alot.

I have been shooting a PSE Nova for 3 years now. It works for me. I don't know the speed, but it is quiet enough and a nice smooth bow. I think it's a great starter bow and I did get set up with it at a pro shop. I see them at Walmart and think some people probably make the mistake of buying one that is not properly set up for their draw length and such.

The pro shop guy sold me a bunch of wimpy lightweight carbon arrows and to this day I have never shot them. I don't know what he was thinking other than that I was a useful sucker to dump those arrows onto? lol
