Default Help with my max draw weight

Can someone help me with my max draw weight? I think my bow should be able to go to 70#. However, when I measured it last night it only came to about 63#. I have both limbs cranked as far down as they will go. Is the max draw weight determined by your draw lenght? Here is what the sticker on the bow says:

draw: 28 - 29"
weight: 60/70 #

Does this mean I need to change something to get it to go to 70 #s, or will I only get that weight if my draw lenght is 29", which it is 28.5.

I hope I have been clear enough, and have included the relevent information

If the bow is rated 60-70 at 28-29", and you're shooting 29", then it should get 70 pounds. I'd bet you need to get your string and cable lengths adjusted or get them replaced.

With the range indicated on the bow, I would have thought that you could get the entire range of posted draw weights at any of the posted draw lengths, but this is an assumtion on my part, and I do not know for sure. I'm curious now though.

hi you need to put some twists in your cable ,this will increase your weight it has probably stretched.also check your string if there is too many twists in it it will decrease your draw weight.depending though on how old your string and cable is,if its 2 or more years old I would replce it,if not when you put new string a cables on after about 50 to 100 shoots they will stretch a little.then you have to put a couple twists in them.then you should be good for quit a while.

thanks everyone. I thought I should be getting the full range out of it. The bow s about 4 years, old, and the string is the one that came on it. I am going to have a new one put on it next week. thanks again.

A string & cable that is 4 years old has almost certainly stretched out enough to lose that much draw weight. Get them replaced. And as has been mentioned above, it will take a few shots to get them broken in. After a couple of hundred shots, twist the string and cable to get it back to specs. Brace height, ATA & draw length should be checked and reset if necessary. A bow press is necessary for this.
Good luck,
Allen
