Default Beman Max 4 and Black Max ?

I am thinking of trying these shafts, but I wanted to get some feedback on them first. FIrst I will give you my set-up. I am shooting a 05 hoyt ultratec, 65-67 pounds, 29 inch draw, string loop, release, NAP quiktune 3000 shoot through rest, and 100 grain tips. I will use these arrows for hunting and would like to keep them as close to 400 grains as possible.I will shoot either muzzy 100 grain 3 blades, or G5 montecs. I remember reading that their was a problem with the axis arrows losing their spine after awhile, and I believe that easton and beman are the same company and was wondering if this is still a problem? Also, how does the HIT system work out? I will fletch these shafts with either 4 inch duravanes, or bohning blazers fletched with a right helical. WIll they clear a shoot through rest? Also, can you suggest a size for both of these shafts that is spined right for me, and give the total arrow weight for each one fletched with the two vane styles I want to try? I am shooting carbon express 3d selects now, but I am itching to try something different. I know I have asked alot, but hey, that's how you learn. Please give me some honest feed back on these arrows, and any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not really sure, I am sort of new to the bemans, and unsure of the spine. I think they come in the 340 or 400. I'm not sure which one is spined right for my specs. I usually cut my arrows to 29 or 30 inches. Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I will try to figure it out. I needed to know how long you cut your arrows so I can get the right spine.

Here is what I came up with:

The Beman Max 4 and the Beman Max are the same gpi. The 400's are 9.6 while the 340 are 10.4. On the chart it says for a 29" arrow to get the 400's, but the next box over is 340. You would be better off going up, getting the 340's. Assuming the nock and insert weight of the two arrows equals 20 grains, the arrows will weigh the same.

The Beman Max 4 arrows cut at 29" with the 4"Duravanes will weigh about 445 grains.
The Beman Max 4 arrows cut to 29" with the Bohning Blazer vanes on will weigh about 436.

The Beman Max arrows cut to 29" with the 4" Duravanes will weigh about 445 grains.
The Beman Max arrows cut to 29" with the Bohning Blazer vanes on will weigh about 436 grains.

If you cut the arrows to 30 inches add 10.6 grains on each.

Either way the arrows will weigh the same as long as you use the same vanes.

The HIT system enables the insert to go inside the shaft. It helps in broadhead accuracy.

Checkout this link for a picture on what the HIT system looks like:

The Beman Black Max and the Beman Camo Max DO NOT weigh exactly the same.

The 400 size camo shafts weigh 10.4 grains per inch, while the uncamoed(Black Max) weigh in at 9.6 grains per inch. Cut at 29" the camo version weighs in at 302 grains and the Black Max weighs in at 278 grains!

The 340 size....Black Max weighs 10.4 gpi and the Camo Max weighs in at 11.2 gpi.Cut at 29".....Black Max weighs in at 302 grains and Camo Max weighs in at 325 grains.

Cougar, you are right, but I was only comparing the black arrows. I did not look up the camo arrows. I compared each one at 29" with Bohning Blazers and 4" Duravanes. He did notspecify if he wanted the black or camo, so I just went with the black.

I just bought the Black Max 340's last night had to wait for glue to dry but I will let you know how they shoot. Zak123 #'s are real accurate because I had mine cut to 28 maybe 28.5" they had 4" fletchesand with 100 grain tip they weighed in at 440 grains. I bought them because of slim profile and the hit inserts I had some crossfire broadheads and they said they were made to be compatible with hit inserts.
