Default Finally bought a decent bow! Suggestions for accessories?

It's been a long time coming, but I finally had the opportunity to buy a decent bow for bowhunting. I found a great deal on a Bowtech Black Knight II (2003 model) with 29" module, PSE NV system, peep sight, d-loop, 2 piece quiver and a total of 19 Beman carbon arrows, 6 of which have broadheads (type not specified). I bought it on Ebay for $485, and it looks to be in very good condition.

The bow doesn't include the rest, sights or stabilizer, so I'll be adding these when the bow arrives. I plan on taking it to my local Bowtech dealer for a checkup to make sure everything is in good working order, cams are timed, etc... and to have it set up and tuned for me with the accessories I choose.

What I'm looking for are suggestions for decent accessories that won't break the bank. Basically, I don't want to spend more than I need to, but I don't want to pay less for junk either.

I'd prefer a drop away rest and a three-pin sight system. Suggestions for a good hunting stabilizer would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

A little birdy, duh! [8D]

Actually, I meant that to mean that it's a lot more decent than the POS Bear (probably NOT Fred Bear, mind you) "Black Panther" steel bus cable wheelbow that I've had for years (bought it at K-Mart as a kid almost 17 years ago, if memory serves). It redefines the term SLOW compared to the average compound bow of today. There are youth bows that would smoke it at 2/3 its draw weight. ATA length is like 46" and the brace height is almost 9". Great for lofting arrows into a bag at 20 yards, but I'm not going to hunt with it. It won't even take standard accessories (rests and sights) without a lot of hassle.

Well if I was on a budget..

I'd get one of the new Toxonics top dog K9 sights w/ the wrapped fiber

And for a rest I'd prolly look at a GKF TKO drop away..

Simms Scoil stabilizer

ect...

I cannot help you with the rest as I am not partial to drop-aways though I would offer suggestions on the sight and stabilizer.

As far as stabilizers go I would opt for any combination of the Sims stabs...Enhancer, Enhancer 2000, Modular or S-Coil......followed by any of the appropriate sized Stealth models.

As for sights, I am partial to the Copper John Dead Nuts Hunter as well as the Cobra Sidewinder.

Hope this helps.

I would put a Trophy Taker drop away on it. I love mine, it is the shakey hunter and it was $75. They have a new one that is only $50.

As for sights I have a Vital Bow Gear Proslide and I love it, they also make a 3 pin sight, but Im not sure what the model is. I really like the Copper John Dead Nuts sights too.

I Have a Bohning Linx 4 arrow quiver I really like too. My stabalizer is a Satilite Archery with a doinker rubber thing, it is only about 3.5 oz instead of 6 or 7.

Just ask the thousands shooting these.

driftrider, I'm sure your new bow will work out well for you. The TrophyTakers are very good rests. I've used the Cobra Diamondback as well. These are real easy to set up. And pretty quiet. I'm with Frank re: the Copper John Dead Nuts sights. Get the .029 pins, much brighter and more durable fibers. I've had good luck with the 7 1/2" Vibracheck Isolators. They also offer a carbon version that's lighter. Both work very well to quiet the bow, and remove vibration/recoil. Good luck with your BKII.

I have to agree with Gundigest on the rest suggestion. I too have the Trohy Taker/ Shakey hunter, I love it and it performs incredibly well.

Also like my Cobra sight quite a bit.
