hoyt bows

I was speaking to a buddy of mine that owns a bow shop, and we were talking about
hoyt bows, becouse I'm intrested in buying one, he kind of talked me out hoyts,I
couln't belive it becouse he and his staf owns hoyt bows he told me that cable contacts
the cam in away that it wears the serving to the point that the cable may brake
he has sent sevral bows back to hoyt and they told him that they are aware of the problem but it can't be fixed. have any of you experienced any problems with your new hoyt bows.

I've got a hoyt, and have experienced the same problem. though not to the extent of having anything break. The serving did wear, but I was told to keep the string waxed and keep an eye on it. I had the same strings on it for three years and had no breakage.

I don't know. I have the cam and 1/2 and it shows no sign of wear, but I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe with the shorter ata bows it would be a problem but I don't think the longer should have any.

I had the same problem with a Newberry and their hybrid cams are basically a copy of the Hoyt system. The round 3rd track on the lower cam can chew up the serving on the power cable. It is far worse on the shorter ATA bows where the cables must come off the cams at a greater angle. AKDoug, who is a staff shooter for Newberry, came up with a fix for the problem. He is on this forum sometimes (not too many who used to be here are posting much anymore) and is more often on ArcheryTalk. If you search threads over on that forum, or PM Doug, I'm sure he would be glad to tell you how to fix it. As near as I can remember, he changed the routing of the cables so the control cable was closest to the bow hand, and decreased the cable clearance somewhat by deepening the slot for the power cable in the cable guide. I also took 4-600 wet/dry sandpaper, and beveled and smoothed the spot where the contact was made. Hope this helps.

I shoot a 2003 model Hoyt Pro-Tec with the cam 1/2 at least 3 times a week year round. I have had no problems with servings, string or cables thus far.

aparently not all hoyt bows have this problem, I went to see a buddy of mine that owns a bow shop here in jersey and he pointed out the problem, I was told if i wanted a hoyt
that bad this year to go around to all the dealers and try every bow on the shelf till I find one that dosen't have this problem.. I think ill whait till hoyt corrects the problem.
What happens is when you draw the string back look down at the lower cam you will see
the power cable go between the groove that holds the bearing and touch the side of that part of the cam, thats were the problem is and if you install a winners choice cable the cam will eat it up.. thanks for all the reply's
