Default Patriot Infinity Cam tune ??

I just traded my 2003 Patriot Dually for a 2003 Infinity single cam version. In checking it over I see that its ATA is 5/16" longer than spec and that the gap between the module screw and the limb is not 0.219" as per the manual. My gap is .259 from the edge of the screw, greater than that if it should be measured from the center of the screw. So I guess I need to add some twists to shorten the ATA right? I do have a set of custom strings and cable (J.A.M, 452x) coming from Gibblet so will be replacing everything shortly. But I would like to educate myself about the performance effects of these spec variances. Do they affect speed, valley, nock travel? Just trying to understand my bow better. Thanks.

terry, sounds like you've got some twsting to do. if you pull on the string a little, which way does the cam rotate? does it rotate the way you need it to for the timing to be correct? or does the timing get worse? your string definitely needs twists and probably your cable too. different people do it different ways. i worry about timing the cam first. then once that is done, on a single cam, i'll twist the string twice for each one i put in the cable. this will shrink ata, increase bh, and leave the cam timing set, or almost set. if you don't take the string all the way off the bow when twisting, which i don't, then put the same number of twists in it from each end loop. that way the twists won't get loaded up on 1 side of the idler wheel. anyway, that's what works best for me, but there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Gibblet,
When I pull on the string the cam rotates to where it should be going, that is the screw gets closer to the factory spec setting. Don't have a press yet so I will have to wait for a good friend of mine ( Hint Hint, Nubo) to let me use his to set this thing right.

you can make the same adjustment by untwisting the cable and you can do that without a press, but you've got to use techniques. if you hold the riser in your hand below the grip with the string facing away from you, and grab the cable with the same hand you're holding the bow with and squeeze, you can stick something round or a fat allen wrench or two thru the cam and above the limb so that when you un-squeeze the cam can't rotate back. the tool should be pinned between the limb and the hole in the cam. this will take all the pressure off your cable and you can take the loop off the post and untwist it. this will time the cam, but maybe put you out of ata. but ata is really +/- 1/4" and so is brace height when the bow is bottomed out. OR you can just wait a week because you're package went out today (tuesday).

Sounds good Nubo, only I'm a little afraid of the sh$$ you will give me for selling the Dually, hey maybe I'm messing with your mind and really traded it for a Switchback
