Default Down loading digital cameras!

This thing (PC) is driving me crazy, can someone please help a person that's computer stupid.

I can't download photos' and here's what took place prior to the problem. First I got a virus and had to put it in the shop to be cleaned up. This was done and the repairman ( a friend that built this thing for me) told me to buy and install the Norton Internet Security (anti virus). I got and installed the NIS. My friend died unexpectantly and I don't know what to do to correct this problem.

I have to different cameras, HP and Olympus, can't download either. I disabled the NIS and it still didn't work. I wrote HP, Olympus, and Synmatec (probably spelled wrong), they are the people that have the NIS. They all sent me instructions to correct the problem and none of them works.

When my friend rebuilt/repaired my PC (after the virus), could he have left something out/off my pc. The nearest PC shop is 30 miles and looks like I'm going to have to take it to them, I called and they charge $75.00 and hour to work on it. Before I do this, do any of you have any suggestions.

Thank You,
dog1

Default RE: Down loading digital cameras!

Did you download your cameras to the computer again after he rebuilt it?
