Default reducing pic size?

i have a pic to put on as my avaitor and when i upload it it tells me it is to big, can anyone tell me how to reduce the soze so that it will upload?

Mat I have the same problem only with posting fish/ deer pics. My camera takes digis and the size is 350k. I guess I need to step down the pixls or something like that.

Did your camaras come with digital image editing software?

Got a new digital camara not to long ago 5. megipixels?( they are very big pictures on the highest setting) But havent used it much yet ......But i have done some downsizeing& edit/ crop& resample sizeingthe pictures using the kodak programs that came with it. Or a free photo editingprogram from someplace like2cows etc maybe?

Seems i use both programs if i remember right the free one(Irfanview)& the kodak now to resize/resample edit etc..
Edit.... but at the moment it seems i cant even post any picturesit seems.

This might sound stupid but do you have paint on your computer. you know the thing were you can draw pictures. what i do is go to it then click file open and go to my pictures. then open one and then go to image, then attributes and then change the pictures size. It works for me.

sorry mathewsman its not attributes it is in images but go to strech and skew to change the size. you can check the images size in attributes.
