Wouldn't you hate if this happened? Broken antlers!

Had a customer bring in these antlers yesterday, and wanted me to repair them...

He shot this buck with his bow, put it on his 4 wheeler and hauled it out of the woods. When he got to the road, the deer fell off and chipped three tines on one side, completely broke off one on the other side, and scraped really bad on the backsides.

What bad luck! But with a little work and epoxy I was able to fix these antlers almost good as new. I'll be doing a shoulder mount with them now.

Where is the skull plate??????Why are these cut off at the pedicule?????How are you going to attach the antlers to the form???? Good repair job on them.

When the antlers fell off, the skull plate broke as well. Apparently the guy took it upon himself to cut both antlers off at the pedicel. No problem, though. My taxidermy supply company sells artificial skull caps, which look just like the real thing but have screws coming out of them. These work great for shed antlers too. You just drill a hole in the antler base and epoxy it to the artificial skull cap, and there you have it! Ready to attach to the form.

nice job.it was always a pleausure to fix things for my coustomers that though were unfixable.peaple do all sorts of damage to there game and wounder why it cost them to get it fixed.

Nice job blending colors. Thats the hardest part to me. Just got done with a 165 class WT rack that had about 40 inches or so broke off.

Hope ya recouped all that labor time thats the tough part to justify to most.

I had a buck I shot a couple years ago that broke off his drop tine after I shot him. Had him mounted & my taxidermist did a fine job of repairing the drop tine. It turned out great also.
