hoof gun/bow rack

How do you guys make a hoof gun rack? i saw a kit in cabelas. Is t his something hard to do and does it require special tools?

To do it correctly. you need to skin out the leg. All the way down into the hoof. Then you need to tan the skin. After the skin is tanned it's put on a form. Which you can buy at any taxidermy supply co. After that I have a buffer on one of my bench grinders, and I buff the hoof up.

Is there any way to preserve the hoofs for i dont have to skin the hoofs?
