Default Price on bear tanning?

I was watching bear hunting on tv earlier and I was curious about how much does a bear cost to have it tanned like for a rug? Bear is about the only thing I would ever consider going to pay to hunt somewhere I doubt ill ever do it but it would be neat. But I was just curoius as to what someone would expect to pay for tanning one?

A good quality rug will cost anywhere from $125/linear foot, and up from there.

The bear rug i'm having done now is $125 per foot. Then there is extra cost for the head depending on how you do it (open or closed mouth). I think mine is close to 7" and I'm having it done on black background with the mouth open for around $1200.

I've had two rugs done for right around $700 each. Both were quality work, and one was with open mouth, one was closed. Both bears were blackies, at or just above 6'. If you are just wanting a hide tanned, then you could expect about $40-$50 a foot, depending on how much work is left for the tannery, ie. fleshing, turing eyes, nose, ears, lips, claws, etc.

M. Magis...I'm in Ohio, too and one of the best rug makers in the country is in Ohio. They do hundreds a year, and they are $79/foor plus $100 to skin out the head and feet.

I've had 2 rugs made there and a life mount. They're awesome and fast. They have ALL been back in 6 months. One rug was back in 2 months.
