Default Mounting Velvet

Considering it is August 6 th If I wack a nice Velvet next week say the 12th or so give or take a day can the antlers be mounted sucessfully? They still grow here for a few more weeks. What special handling should I do? I can probably get them to a Taxidermist in a day or so after the take.

Get them to the taxidermist or in the freezer ASAP. That goes for both the cape and antlers. Depending on how developed they are, they can be preserved in different ways. The best option is to have them freeze dried. Ask your taxidermist ahead of time and see what he plans to do, but either way, they need to get in the freezer quickly.

Are you talking a shoulder mount or just a rack mount?

there are several ways to do it.you should talk to your taxidermist to see what he uses.
I have the needles and fluid to inject mine .
I have taken two in velvet (been 6 or 7 years ago)and injected them both and they are still looking like they were walking around.
your taxidermist may get you the stuff or tell you what to do.
