A little wood stain will work fine.

Depends on what you want. English walnut is a nice, light brown color. Dark walnut is, of course, darker. Apply it multiple times until you get the color you want.

Try modern walnut, and some steel wool on the tips.

1 note is that the longer you leave the stain on the dark it well be. I have used 2 diffrent colours. I use the lighter one first and leave it on longer say 10 mins then wipe off with a dry rag. The next coat is darker stain. once i put it on I wipe it right off. in one pulling motion. what this does is leaves darker stain in the valleys of the rack. So what you are left with is a rack that looks like it has been rubbed against trees and such with a lighter colour on the edges

hopes this helps

wood stain works nice. if you want you can use a clear sealer but it leaves the rack shiny and unatural. but it can be sanded with a very low grain sand paper.
