Default What kind deer is this?

We have just bought a house and the people have left this piece of taxidermy behind we think is a deer but then again we know nothing.

I agree but it could just be a really old mount not properly cared for.

That looks like a sitka deer. Might be a real young red deer though.The mount looks a bit old, some retouching might not be a bad idea, if you mean to keep it!

I agree with old Mex the Deer looks like a red to me as well, we have a lot of them down here.

I say red deer as well. Too big to be a sika - body and antlers.

I agree with the bad mount. But, it could be just really old. It was free so I'd be happy with it.

The antlers look like they are from an axis deer.


The cape may be just a dirty/old axis deer also or maybe a red deer, not sure about the cape.
