i find that sometimes they will look bigger if there hung in just the right place. i agree that having the ears back will in most cases seem to add a little width. i also agree that if you have to make it look like something its not, maybe you shoulda let it live another year. if you want it on your wall ,then mount it anyway you want, any size deer is pretty if mounted right.

Very true. The young ones are usually the prettiest ones. Nice capes, got all their wiskers, no scars, and clean ears. They are deffinitly the easiest ones to mount I think. WCL

Find the antlers better attributes, or side and mount accordingly to make that feature stand out. But, yes any trophy mounted right is always cool on the wall!

Here is a 115" buck with head down turned left aggressive pose.

Here is a 120" buck in a sneak pose

Your buck is what it is, there is 5" difference between these two and it shows. Like said above with the ears rotated back the rack will stand out more.

And if you really want to modify the origional deer you can buy a smaller neck and cut some cape away on the neck. A smaller neck will help the rack stand out better.
I would never do anything to make the body look smaller.

Here's one of mine with the ears back. Accentuates the spread, I think.

I just prefer the early bow season capes. Very short haired, show alot of detail. Make very pretty mounts, no matter what size the rack is.
