Humidity is what you should worry about.

I was employed in the consumer bug industry for 36 yrs.

If you are worried about bugs - a very light dusting with Raid House and Garden is all you need. Done once or twice a yr will suffice.

the product is an aerosol to which just use a very light mist with a sweeping motion.

I have a few tanned hides with the hair on. Once or twice a year I put them in a plastic bag and then spray about a second or two and no more. Seal the bag over night and then I rehang.

The only way to protect any skin, mount, rug etc., is to chemically treat the hair and leather, this is done with pesticides developed for this purpose, these can be purchased from any taxidermy supply co., powders, external sprays are only temporarty fixes at best.
