Anybody ever heard of rubbing a lemon wedge on the fur of a mount to help preserve it?

Can't say I have, though I have heard that the occasional dusting with a paper towel sprayed with pledge helps the fur stay in good condition and protect it from mites and the like.
Surely you misunderstood. Are you sure someone didn't say Lemon Pledge? Lemon Pledge or lemon wedge,neither willpreserve anything, nor will they repel bugs.
