Default 2007 Mount

I have a freind that's been working for a taxidermest for the last 3 year and now is going out on his own. I gave him this buck last year for one of his first solomounts. I don't think he looks to bad... What do you guys think? Should I give him my 08stuff??

fyi.... He's about $200 bucks cheaper then the other guys around here.

You need to decide if you're happy. Remember, there's a reason he's $200 cheaper. It's not profit, I can promise you that.

Magis hit the nail on the head. If he is $200 cheaper, there is a reason for it. Yes, I have seen worse mounts, but the ears, eyes, and nose jump out at me....I will leave it at that as there isn't enough pictures to critique it....and the critique wouldn't mean anything to you. If you're happy, that is all that matters.

His experience shows, greatly! If you like it, that's what matters, but remember, you get what you pay for!

Thanks for the honesty guys, that's why I asked... Just a few things. I'm not sure what to look for in a "quality mount"?I do know the hide was sent to CA to be taned so, it should last but what else should I be looking for? Like Isaid before, this guys new and learning, I new that when I gave him the deer. The deer I got this year I'm a little more concerend about, he's a bigger, nicer deer and I want it done right. That mount cost me 250 bucks, The other taxies around here will cost me 400, he's since done about another 10+ mounts... Soooo, be honest again, do Igo back to this guy again or just drop the extra 150?

Thanks again,

Well, first off when you look at any mount it should look real!!!!

I would suggest going to the other taxidermist shops and just take a look at there work, if you can tell the difference between your $250 and the $400 mount, which you should, then at that time you an make your desicion. Are you proud to have it hanging in your house or is it something that will get stuck hanging in the garage?
I know a few people that went with the cheap guy because they couldn't tell the difference either, that is until they had a qualitymount done that was hanging on the wall next to it. As soon as they hung it on the wall they could pick out the differences between the two mounts.
With that said it is your money, and you have to see it hanging on the wall day after day.

Take a look around at several different Taxidermists work. If you see what you like, then that's probably the guy to go with. Why put all of your money and time into killing a great buck and then cut corners when it comes to the taxidermy job that you have to look at forever?
