Default 15 Point Hair sliippage?????

My dad has a 15 Point-150 class buck mount that he shot back in 1986. This was his first deer he ever shot.. The hair is falling out very badly. If you lightly wipe your hand across it the hair comes right out.I would really like to fix this mount for him because i know it means a lot to him but he is clueless in what to do with it. Im guessing I dont have to many options. The only thing I can think of is a new hide. But the diameter of the neck is very large and the length of the neck is something i never seen on a deer.I asked a butcher to keep aneye out for a hide with those measurements buthe did not come across anything. What else can i do? Is there any other options besides a whole new hide? if not where can I look?

I would just get a new cape. Look on the Taxidermy Net. They have links to alot of tanneries and hide suppliers, like International Capes in Millinocket Maine.

Hair doesn't normally just "slip" after 20+ years. I'd check for bugs.

That's exactly where I was going, sounds like a dermestid infestation. 1st thing I would do is get other mounts away asap!!

Whatever infestation there may have been, I am sure was done years ago and you are just now noticing it. Get a new cape and whomever you have mount it for you can check when he tears off the old one.
