Default Selling Dermestid beetles

Dermestid beetles are used by universities and museums to prepare skulls and other bones for display. Boiling of skulls is messy, smelly and can damage delicate bone structures such as nasal membranes, as well as impart an oily film to the bone. Preparation with flesh eating beetles avoids these pitfalls. These beetles are easy to multiply and maintain, by following a few simple rules and procedures.

I operate a small licensed taxidermy business, "śKodiak Bones & Bugs Taxidermy"ť, and specialize in only quality cleaning of skulls and preparing European mounts using dermestid beetles. Living in Kodiak Alaska, I obviously know the quality discriminating hunters demand.

Several points separate my professional starter kits from the rest: This kit will include 1000+ (actually more like 1200-1300) dermestid beetles and beetle larvae of all sizes of their multiple stages. Unlike smaller kits which would require the colony to reproduce and grow to a larger size to be able to clean all but the smallest skulls, this kit would allows immediate cleaning of most sized jobs.

The beetles/larvae are shipped in the medium they create when they reduce specimen material and bedding material to a sawdust-like material, called frass. This insures the colony will survive and immediately begin reproducing. I have had no problems shipping the colonies from Alaska, as all goes out on airmail. I include heat packs in the shipment to insure the beetles arrive in good condition. The beetles are well fed and watered prior to shipment. Importantly, included in the kit is specialized bedding/boring material that the beetles burrow into to lay eggs and to pupate, to maintain/expand the size of your colony. I include very detailed instruction for maintenance and proper growth of your colony, and procedures to prepare and clean skulls using your beetle colony. These tips are from a long period of raising dermestids, and will greatly assist you in establishing and growing your colony! Aquariums or large plastic totes (with a screened lid) are appropriate containers for your colony.

Price INCLUDES shipping! The colony is shipped using Priority Mail, to insure rapid delivery. I will notify you by email when I ship your colony, and will provide you with a confirmation number you can use to track your shipment on usps.com. I will gladly correspond to answer questions and offer startup support to those who purchase my kits.

This is a top-quality dermestid beetle starter kit, including everything you will need to immediately grow your colony to create your own high quality wildlife displays. Similar starter kits can be located on the web for as much as $200! Don"™t let the low price cause you to question the quality; these kits are everything the much more expensive kits are!

My beetles are guaranteed to be healthy and strong. Cut-rate and non-professional sellers often can have mites and/or fly larvae in their kits, and these will eventually destroy your colony. My quality control is assured. Please purchase with confidence! Thanks for the opportunity to meet your needs! Discounts available for larger quantities.
