I can recommend a few....
Chris Barnhardt in Kannapolis www.chrisbarndardt.com
Tommy Hall in Indian Trail www.tommystaxidermy.com
They are both good, but on the expensive side. They both are good. Mount should run between $1500 - $2000, not knowing size. But you will get top notch. I would contact them ASAP. I do a few bears but not many.

if you pay 1500.00-2000.00 for an half life size black bear your getting ripped.hope you found out its alot cheaper than that.
1500-2000 is for life size not 1/2 life size thats just crazy
well good luck to you

NO the crazy thing is doing it for less than that or even crazier is doing a lifesize for that price. You may want to work for free but I don't. I have a lifesize bear that I am working on that I am getting $2500 (not counting base) for, so 1/2 lifesize would be 1/2 that. Getting ripped is getting poor quality and if your are getting a lifesize done for $1200, the taxidermist has to be cutting corners somewhere. Shoot-em did you go to Surry Mini Course? They had a great business course that went over the costs of mounting a deer. The total costs. From advertising your services to paying yourself. And if you are charging less that $395 for a deer you are doing yourself a diservice. I could go on about this but if you want to give me a call and I can get the info to you so you can see for yourself. Nothing personal but it is a business.
