Default Wet Tanned Cape

I have mounted a squirrel before using dry preservative, but its my first time to do a whitetail deer and I just got a cape wet tanned. I'm not one hundred percent sure what work needs to be done before i can apply it to the manikin. I know I need to turn the lips, ears, and eyes, and trim any excess leather....anything else? Thanks for your help

Hopefully, everything was turned before tanning. I always thin up the lips, nostrils, eyes, and ducts before mounting. If the eyes weren't split completely, make sure and od that. The shaversdoa great job, but they can always be thinner around those areas. Ear cartilage must go also if using liners. I don't trim anything until it's on the form.
