Default Deer Hides

Our hunting group here in Iowa takes alot of deer every year through all the seasons. This year we ended up with 31 hides at the end of the year. My question is what is the best way to keep those hides in good shape until the end of the season when we sell them? Is freezing them the best, and is there something that should be done to them before they are frozen. It is hard to find someone closeby to sell them to during the season so we usually try to keep everything until the end and sell them all at once.

Thanks,
Dan

Default RE: Deer Hides

DT - what I would do is ask the person you are selling to. When I used to process deer, we just salted them. We'd buy 50# bags from the feed store and salt them real good let them drain overnight and resalt the next day. Hope it helps
