Default fox/coyote tail..

Me and my friend started coyote hunting not to long agoand heshot one this morning.. we snipped off the tail to hang up in his room.. are there any procedures, steps, and or tips to deboning and preserving the tail. Thanks for any input. Also is would it be any diffrent for a fox tail..

From the back of the tail, start at the end where you snipped the tail, and start slicing down to the end of the tail. Try to slice in a straight line. Remove the bone in the tail. Once the bone is gone, lay the tail on some cardboard and spread some salt or borax on the flesh part of the tail. This will dry it out. After a week or two, remove the salt or borax and the tail should be ready to hang.

Go with the Borax and skip the salt.
